San Diego’s Bankers Hill neighborhood is a long established in the uptown section on town. It is bordered by Mission Hills and Hillcrest to the north, by Downtown to the south and Balboa Park to the east. Many of the residences in this area allow elevated, panoramic view of Downtown, San Diego Bay, the airport, Coronado, Harbor Island and Mount Soledad. With many of it’s homes dating back to the 19th century they were designed by architects like Irving Gill, William Hebbard, Richard Requa, and Frank Mead.
Because of its reputation for being home to the affluent this area was named Bankers Hill. Many of the older homes have been restored into bed-and-breakfast inns and office suites occupied by accountants and attorneys. The area is home to existing condominiums and courtyard apartments, as well as a plethora of brand new condos being constructed in the area. Buildings like The Park, Vue on 5th, and 41West are among the newest projects the area. There are a mix of older low rise condo buildings as well as luxury high rise condos like Park Laurel. The neighborhood has a good blend of modern meets historical and bring a perfect of old meets new.
